A World of Conspiracy Theories and Sensationalism written by: EESHA Mary Ellen Lukas

A conspiracy theory is defined in the dictionary as:

“An explanation of an event or situation of sinister and powerful actors, often political in motivation, when other explanations are more probable. The term has a pejorative connotation, implying that the appeal to a conspiracy is based on prejudice or insufficient evidence. Conspiracy theories resist falsification and are reinforced by circular reasoning: both evidence against the conspiracy and an absence of evidence, for it is re-interpreted as evidence of it’s truth, whereby the conspiracy becomes a matter of faith— faith which claims certitude grounded in the human consciousness— rather than something that can be proved or disproved.”

Sensationalism on the other hand, is a defined as:

"(especially in journalism) The use of exciting or shocking stories or language at the expense of accuracy, in order to provoke public interest or excitement.”

Today we are more inclined to believe conspiracy theories and sensationalisms. Why? Because between the two, no one knows where to find truth. We have become a people who widely base truth on the shock value of conspiracies, which play into our human consciousness. When this occurs, innocent people are forced to believe false and fake news. Good people who look to those who they feel are in the know— trust they are being told the truth. This alone is enough to touch the heart. And this my friends, is a grievous sin as there is never a good reason for the killing of innocence of any kind! It is inexcusable.

The human rational consciousness without spiritual and transcendental guidance is easily fed by shock value, which is defined as, “filthy, disgusting, violent, or obscene materials endlessly found in the media (television shows, movies, games, and online forums, etc.).” This is so, because again, the more these things are made available, especially as entertainment in the media, the more desensitized one becomes and the more the desire grows for pushing the limits!

Ironically, these things have become so common that they no longer seem wrong anymore.

In these times, when we are subject to shock value being coupled with imagination, the result is adding even more credence to any “fear” we have.

So, as some conspiracies invoke whatever has scared us throughout however many years we have lived— these now are making our worst fears come alive because they now seem reasonable or now have a “plausible explanation" because our spirit has been weakened.

How can this happen? The human rational consciousness sees and stores information and filters it through a fallen nature. This is information that originated with something that occurred in our childhood, teens, family life, or movies etc.

This is why Eeshans believe that with this constant saturation of negative energy we are shown how much we need to bring back decency and kindness— love of neighbor and the transcendental divine connection our souls crave. This is only found in the sacred food and drink, which strengthens the “faith” of spiritual origin— the faith Jesus talked about as being the catalyst for hope and resolve.
